Matariki the 7 stars
There was a young brother named Patuwai who lived in a village and lernt magic with his grandpa and lived with his older brothers. Patuwi could turn into a bird and he flue through the wind.
The 7 brothers were the most handsome men in the village and they had no lovers because there was nobody that are not as pretty as them. One day the 8 brothers went hunting and they heard the most beautiful sing and went to see what it was then they saw beautiful ladys with gold hair and white skin that they shined like stars. The 7 brothers feel in love amidily but Patuwai didn't like them at all.
The 7 brother took the lady's back to the village for marriage. The ladys were very lazy the husbands went fishing for them and that's the only food that ate fish but they didn't gave their husbands any food! The brother started to get skinny and Patuwai was feeling suspicious. One day the brothers went hunting and didn't get back till night, they came back and there wife weren't there then they came back. That day Patuwai hid behind a tree and watched his brothers house, there was 6 birds on the tree and they looked the same then another flew out of one of Patuwais brothers house Patuwai turned into a bird and followed. They reached a hill and Patuwai watched a the 7 birds changed into the brothers wives then he heard that the wife's were planning to starve their husbands. Patuwai went home and told his brothers but they didn't believe him until Patuwai said look at yourselves you are skinny ,you were strong before. Their grandfather made a magic net to catch them so the next day the husband waited outside for the wifes to come out then the flew into the nets then transformed back into the wife and begged to let them free but no. Patuwai transformed in to a bird and flew to the heavens and now thats were the sisters live. Every winter Patuwai lets them shine and the day is referred to Matariki.

I thought Miti was a pretty cool character - I have read a few different Matariki books but I think this one and the 7 kites of Matariki are pretty awesome! Have you read the 7 Kites of Matariki?
Have you learnt much about Matariki in school?
I know that when I was in school there was only 7 stars of Matariki but I heard recently that it is now counted as 9...
